We are extremely excited to share with you two huge cricket events coming up in the Philadelphia area.
On Sunday May 17th, at 11am the Merion Cricket Club, located in Haverford, will play host to the Australian High Commission Cricket Team in the Gregory Cup Match. The Australian High Commission is located in New York, and this match has become an annual fixture. Recently, ex-pat & cricket enthusiast Peter Tingate reached out to Merion and as a result all ANZACC members have been extended an invitation to attend. Club address is below.
Then Sunday September 27th we have been invited to put our own team together to play against the Merion Cricket Club – this is HUGE! What it means though is that we are going to need to put our own team together. This will require several training sessions (possibly followed by a beer or two afterward to discuss tactics) between now and September 27th.
If you would like to sign up, experience is not required, please email cricket@anzaccmidatlantic.com with your name, phone number, experience, plus any equipment you have. A warm up match, perhaps against an English team, is currently being planned for Saturday June 27th, stay tuned for correspondence.
For anyone not familiar with the Merion Cricket Club (formed 1865!) I encourage you to visit their website at www.merioncricket.com for information and photographs of the absolutely beautiful grounds and outstanding facilities.
